A New York cancer doctor killed her baby by suicide at her home in Somers, about 50 miles outside the city, at 7 a.m. Saturday, state police said.
Krystal Cascetta, an oncologist at Mount Sinai Hospital, shot her 4-month-old son in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide, according to the Daily Mail newspaper. It is not known if anyone else was in the house, according to reports the news network NBC News.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7:00 a.m., Krystal Cascetta entered her bedroom and shot her baby and then used the weapon on herself,” state police said in a statement.
The house where the incident occurred is valued at one million dollars; the doctor lived there with her husband, Tim Talty, a 37-year-old businessman, according to the Daily Mail.
